Can Games Help Prevent Suicide?

The 2020s have not been kind for mental health. Suicides are on the rise around the world as we begin to find ourselves in a Mental Health Crisis. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and boy do we need it. As I've told my students over the past 2 years, "So many people are walking around with PTSD, and they don't even know it." But how can Games help? …

Journey of A Roach Play-Through

On GMVR we finished playing Journey of a Roach from Daedelic Entertainment. It was an exceptionally fun click adventure, filled with some fun wall climbing and puzzle solving mechanics. The visual design was really fun, and I loved the way that the speech bubbles were drawings rather than text. It gave a wonderful cartoon feeling to the game. Have a look at our play-through series to see all the ins and outs of this post-apocalyptic adventure game.

MUST SEE ART!

My good friend Eyal Gever has been tearing up the Art Scene ever since he went in it with his whole heart. I am so proud of him, and jealous as hell at his genius and talent. After successfully exiting on a number of startups, he's been using the time, and technology to kick start his long awaited art carrer. Considering he has been in Wired Magazine, traveling the world talking to the top curators and now is on the BBC shows that he is doing it well.

Actually whenever I'm in Israel, I always stay over at Eyal's place. It is such a trip to see my crash pad (Eyal's Studio) on the BBC. Have a look for yourself!

Michael Jackson Flashmob Dance Tribute Amsterdam

This weekend it happend. My friend Isabelle has been organizin a Dance Flshmob in Amsterdam as a tribute to Michael Jackson. I helped her with some of the production and the editing of the official video. It was an amazing time. Some 1,000 Michael Jackson fans gathered in the Vondel Park on July 19,2009. There they learned how to dance Michael Jackson's Thriller and then took to the streets of Amsterdam. They flashmobed Museumplein, Leidseplein, Keizersgracht and Dam Square before the day was done. And some even flashmobed thier own living rooms. It was an amazing event to be a part of. I've got some of the official t-shirts for sale from the event. Proceeds of T-shirt sales goto Michael's "Heal The World" charity. Below is a list of sites with the video on it for sending. For more links check http://flashmobamsterdam.tumblr.com

A BOY AND HIS BIKE!

I Donated A Bicycle To CharitySince I've been back in Amsterdam, I have been unable (too lazy) to get a bike. My old one, is dead somewhere near GabeB's place and I can't find the key. Marc had another bike which he lost the key to outside my house since August. Good condition though. I finally got around (was awake and in the country, and remembered that I could) to going to the bike shop across the street to get the lock taken off. They do this between 10 and 12 on Saturday. I mean seriously, when you go out on a Friday night, the last thing you think about is getting a bike lock sawed on a Saturday morning. I finally got to it, and Marc even threw in a new seat for it. What a great friend! He has a video and some great pics on his blog here. I can't tell you how nice it is to have a bike again in Amsterdam. After cleaning it, throwing on some stickers (need to customize your bike in Amsterdam always), and putting the seat on, we went for a ride in the VondelPark. I was so happy, like a kid who just got a new bike for Christams. That's really how it feels. Even in these rough times, it is with a little help from my friends like Marc that help me through. MARC YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!

Is TV so Bad?

http://weblogs.vpro.nl/non/wp-content/themes/ahimsa/images/NONlogo.png

I haven't had a TV in Holland for a little over a year now. Actually I never really watched dutch TV to be honest when I did. When Bicyclemark skyped Amserdamize and I if we wanted to be on TV, we said sure why not? A friend of his Shylo (fun geek girl who loves games) +, was asked to be on about the whole Twitter and Iran story. She was friends with BicycleMark and he called us and we went with the 4 of us there. I cannot devulge all that happend but it was lots of surprises. I thought it was going to be some Dutch sitting around a table drinking coffee talk type of program which they have mastered. Nope it was a revision of the classic "The Gong Show " but now with audience support and twitter. Something called " NON". broadcasted backstage via my live stream and some stuff after wards on Qik . But to really see how it went, just watch the clip. Warning it is in Dutch, and it makes no sense at all! A BIG SHOUT to Zenuno for recording this and putting it up for us so quick! and ANOTHER BIG SHOUT to J.P. Oosterom that took the twitpic. Love ya guys!
